On Friday 26th October 2012, local home care provider Mobile Care Services Ltd attended the Great West Midlands Care Awards at the National Motor Cycle Museum in Solihull, after being nominated for three different award categories, including the Care Team Award and Home-Care Co-Ordinator Award.

The Great British Care Awards is a prestigious, national event that is held each year throughout the UK to celebrate excellence in Social Care and to highlight the individuals and teams who really do make an outstanding contribution to the sector. In light of such negative aspects of homecare being highlighted in the media recently, it is wonderfully reassuring to be able to highlight the individuals and organisations that succeed in delivering quality support to Customers in their own homes, making a positive difference to the lives of others each and every day.

Having provided excellent domiciliary support to Customers in the local community for over 20 years now, MCS were delighted to be informed of their nominations and selection as finalists after competing against hundreds of care providers in the West Midlands. The three awards MCS had been put forward for included the Care Team Award, recognising the great work of our 250 frontline Community Support Workers, the Home Care Co-ordinator award, for which Operations Manager Julie Latch was put forward and finally the Outstanding Contribution to Social Care Award recognising the dedication and commitment of the Company Director Helen McNelly. Making it to the regional finals was a huge achievement in its own right and because of the competition, nobody expected that things would get even better on the night itself! After a tense wait, we were overwhelmed to hear that we had achieved not only one, but two awards!

We really are so proud of our staff and the fact that they been awarded such a prominent accolade in the Great West Midlands Care Awards. If it were not for our staff, their hard work and their passion for what they do, we would not have reached this stage!

Judges of the awards commented on the ‘exceptional togetherness’ of the care team in ‘promoting the well-being of Service Users’ demonstrating ‘clear compassion and commitment’ in the service delivered. Julie Latch was described as a manager that ‘puts her Service Users at the heart of her work’ and with her passion and commitment, ensures ‘quality services by listening carefully to what Service Users want’, supporting and directing her staff to deliver a professional, safe service.

Mobile Care Services are now through to the National Great British Care Awards, competing as finalists with Care Providers from across the country in the Spring of 2013.
